LEARNING REFLECTION:
1. What did you know about this week’s topics before this week?
- Getting Started with Visual Design
- Visual design is all about colors, layout, hierarchy, and general vibes of (in our case) a web or app page
- Midterm AMA
- Ask Prof. Smith anything!!!!
2. Comparing what you know now to what you knew before, name at least two
important things that you learned this week.
- Getting Started with Visual Design
- The 60-30-10 rule for UI colors
- 60%: Neutral or base color
- 30%: Brand color (primary)
- 10%: “Call to Action” color (secondary)
- Syllabus got moved around, so we learned about Information and Interaction Design I instead
- Visual hierarchy! Super important. All good websites/UIs have a clear visual hierarchy implemented. This should be based off of the goals the UI has and information should be grouped into chunks
- Think about things like size, position, negative space, images, and color
3. How can you apply what you learned to your Semester Project or beyond? Put
differently, what rule(s) can you create for yourself so that you can benefit from
this knowledge later?
- I can be mindful of the 60-30-10 rule & other visual design principles when working on my semester project. I can also be mindful of visual hierarchy principles and think about what goes into them!
4. Describe what you know about next week’s topics in a sentence or two.
- Midterm AMA
- Ask Prof. Smith anything!
- Studio Discussion 2
- Work on Checkpoint 2! In this Checkpoint, we will complete a full UCD loop for our projects. We will need to create a low-fidelity prototype and receive user feedback.
ACCOUNTABILITY QUESTIONS:
1. What tasks did you give yourself in last week’s answer to Accountability
Question #4?
- Task 1: Stop doing work by 10:30PM every night (unless I plan on sleeping in later than 8:30). | In Progress
